Serhiy Zgurets, Defense Express CEO and military expert, noted the Ukrainian Army needs to withstand Russia's pressure and create the preconditions for strengthening defense tactics and strategy in all areas of the frontline

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

"A prolonged war is not a favorable option for Russia because it is accompanied by internal tension. Putin cannot show his population the logic of changes on the front line, and this creates internal tensions, no matter how much Russian propaganda tries to muffle them. Putin is trying to exploit the situation when Ukrainian forces have been somewhat exhausted by the offensive in the south, and now he needs to intensify attacks along the entire front line, which is what is happening now. The forces that Russia is currently using are the maximum of what it has in its stockpile," Zgurets said.

According to the military expert, Russian forces will intensify along the entire front line for some time to come.

"This dynamic is extremely important for the enemy because it combines military and political forces. Our task is to withstand this offensive and create the preconditions for strengthening defense tactics and strategy in all areas of the front," explained Zgurets.

The expert also added that the EU and the US should formulate a new long-term strategy aimed at supporting Ukraine.

"Europeans and Americans are slowly starting to reconfigure their approaches. We understand that the next year will be extremely difficult in terms of the pace of ammunition supplies and the pace of delivery of equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will be lower than in the previous year. At the end of 2024, the partners will reach ammunition production rates comparable to those of the Russian Federation in its alliance with the DPRK," Zgurets emphasized.

  • Over the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled Russian attacks in the Kupyansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Lyman, Zaporizhzhia, and Marinka directions, and eliminated 1,280 Russian soldiers.
  • ISW writes that Russian troops have advanced near Avdiivka over the past day. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations on the left bank of the Kherson region and are trying to advance south of Krynky.
