Foreign Policy Council Ukrainian Prism expert Oleksandr Kraiev believes that criticism of Donald Trump within the country will not affect his policy in the short term

He shared his opinions on Espreso TV.

"The reaction to yesterday's events at the White House is already here. There is an active response in the U.S. The most active speakers of the conservative American movement have already expressed their opinions. For example, John Bolton said that Trump is doing everything so that the US loses. He was once the biggest conservative in Trump’s circle. Bolton explained that Trump is doing everything possible to make America look weak and play into the hands of its enemies. The same thing is said by Dick Cheney's daughter, Liz Cheney. She writes that Trump has betrayed everything that American democracy stands for and what the country was built upon," said Kraiev.

The expert explained that many politicians are afraid to speak out about Trump's actions, as they might lose their positions.

"In other words, we are already seeing conservative voices from the American establishment. They are saying that Trump and Vance had no right to speak or act this way and make such proposals. Will this have an effect? Unfortunately, in the short term, no. Because a significant portion of those conservatives who have come to power in one way or another have limited themselves to refusing to comment on Trump and Vance’s actions, only adding that it is wrong. They understand that in the vertical structure Trump is building, it is very easy to lose their position," he added.

  • On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington for a working visit. During the press conference, a dispute arose between Trump, Zelenskyy, and U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance.
  • It was later revealed that the joint press conference of Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump was canceled following the argument.
  • After the quarrel at the White House, European leaders and U.S. politicians began expressing support for Zelenskyy and Ukraine.
