UK advises Ukraine on Saudi talks to prevent new dispute with Trump - media
The United Kingdom is reportedly advising Ukraine on negotiations with the United States ahead of the Ukrainian delegation's visit to Saudi Arabia to avoid a new dispute with Donald Trump
The Times reported the information.
According to the report, Jonathan Powell, the national security advisor to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, visited Ukraine over the weekend to prepare Zelenskyy for the talks scheduled for Tuesday, March 11.
The goal is to avoid a repeat of the conflict that occurred between Trump and Zelenskyy during their meeting in the Oval Office.
On Monday, Zelenskyy will head to Saudi Arabia, where he will meet with King Mohammed bin Salman before the talks between the Ukrainian and American delegations. Although the president himself will not participate in the negotiations, the Ukrainian delegation will include Andriy Yermak, the head of the President's Office of Ukraine.
It is expected that Britain will not participate in the talks, and officials will only travel to Saudi Arabia at Ukraine's request.
As noted in the report, Powell advised Zelenskyy to clearly outline responses to American requests, emphasizing that Russia is the main obstacle to peace.
"We continue our efforts to bring a just peace closer and ensure reliable security guarantees," said Zelenskyy.
He called the talks with Powell "highly productive" and expressed gratitude for the support.
