Trump's first 100 days: key foreign policy achievements
Politician, head of the NGO Center for Common Actions, and former Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European Integration (2005), Oleh Ryabchuk, noted that Trump's 100 days in office are almost up, yet there is nothing significant for him to announce except the prospect of signing an agreement with Ukraine on rare earth metals
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"I want to understand the essence of the U.S. threat to leave negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. This was a key, fundamental cornerstone of Trump's election campaign, where he claimed that under his presidency, peace would come because no one would dare disagree with his proposals. But this foundation is collapsing - the return of the great Trump and the onset of golden times when the whole world respects America. We can look at the Middle East, where the situation is not very promising: Gaza and Hamas rejected Israel's proposal, and explosions happen every day. As for Iran, they met and talked, but Tehran is still talking about further uranium enrichment. And regarding China, it's better not to mention it at all, as their reaction is completely the opposite. This list could go on - Canada, Panama, Greenland," the politician commented.
According to him, the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency are approaching, but there is little of significance for Trump to boast about — except, perhaps, the potential signing of an agreement with Ukraine on rare earth metals.
"U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed Trump's 'Plan B,' where they might just walk away from the negotiation process. But they say there are two sides that can't find common ground: the Ukrainian president agreed to a ceasefire without any preconditions, and there’s also a process of agreeing on a rare earth metals deal. So the question arises, which of these two sides is refusing to agree on anything? We should recall that Trump said - if one side doesn't agree to his terms, he would unleash hell on that side. But if Trump steps away from the process of resolving the Russia-Ukraine war, something tells me that this doesn’t look like a blow to Putin," Ryabchuk noted.
- On April 17, Ukraine and the United States signed a memorandum affirming the countries' intention to finalize and sign an agreement on critical minerals.
