
Ukraine, U.S. sign memorandum paving way for critical minerals agreement
On Thursday, April 17, Ukraine and the United States signed a memorandum affirming the countries' intention to finalize and sign an agreement on critical minerals
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko reports.
"Today, a step was taken toward a joint Economic Partnership Agreement with the United States. Ukraine and the United States of America signed a Memorandum that confirms the constructive joint work of our teams and the intention to finalize and conclude an agreement that will be beneficial for both our peoples," the statement reads.
The minister stated that preparations are currently underway to establish an Investment Fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and the corresponding agreement will open up opportunities for significant investments, infrastructure modernization, and mutually beneficial partnership between Ukraine and the United States. This is the goal of the document.
“It is important that through our agreements we reaffirm the American people's commitment to investing together with the Ukrainian people in a free, sovereign, and secure Ukraine,” Svyrydenko emphasized.
She added that the next steps include finalizing the text of the agreement, signing it, and later - ratification by the parliaments.

The day before, Svyrydenko said that there was a positive step in the negotiations between Ukraine and the United States on the agreement on rare earth minerals, which they agreed to record in a memorandum of intent.
