Trump made this statement at a press conference at the White House alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

He mentioned that the Ukrainian and American delegations had already discussed “many details” of the final ceasefire agreement.

“We discussed the issue of Ukrainian land—what territories will be preserved or lost—and all other elements of the final agreement. A large power plant is also involved. Who will get it? Who will get what? It’s not an easy process,” Trump noted.

He added that there is no point in wasting time on a ceasefire if something can be gained while something else is lost.

  • On March 11, Ukrainian and American delegations arrived in Saudi Arabia for negotiations, during which Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, while the United States agreed to resume intelligence sharing and security assistance.
  • On March 13, Trump's special representative, Steve Witkoff, arrived in Russia to meet with the head of the Russian Federation in a closed-door evening meeting.
  • On the same day, March 13, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was ready for a 30-day ceasefire but stated that "there are nuances."
  • U.S. President Donald Trump, at a press conference on March 13, said that Putin had made a promising statement, but it was not complete.
