Vulnerability of Kinzhal missiles is surprising for Russia – British intelligence
The vulnerability of Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles came as a surprise to Russia and caused confusion in the Kremlin. Russian President Vladimir Putin considered this system invincible
This is stated in a recent report of British intelligence.
On May 3, 2023, Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted and destroyed the Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile, marking the first time they had done so. In response, Russia attempted to neutralize the enhanced capabilities of Ukrainian air defense systems, but it is believed that they lost several more Kinzhal missiles in the process, as reported by British intelligence.
Recent reports indicate an escalation in air battles. Specifically, on May 13, two Russian Aerospace Forces helicopters and two fighter jets crashed in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, which shares a border with Ukraine. Experts suggest that these aircraft were likely shot down.
Analysts emphasize that the increased air threat in the border region of the Russian Federation will raise concerns within the Russian Aerospace Forces, as the Bryansk region serves as a key deployment area for their air forces.

Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, highlighted that Kyiv remains a primary target for the enemy. That is why Kyiv has implemented a strong air defense system, which proved effective in neutralizing all six Kinzhal missiles.
