“He could understand what's going on here”: Zelenskyy invites Trump to visit Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to Ukraine would help him understand what the Russian leader Vladimir Putin has done
He said this in an interview with CBS.
According to Zelenskyy, if Trump visited Ukraine, “He could understand what's going on here.”
“We respect your position, but, please, before any kind of decisions, any kind of plans for negotiations, come to see the people, civilians, warriors, hospitals, churches, children destroyed or dead,” Zelenskyy said.
He made these comments during his visit to Kryvyi Rih, which was hit by a Russian missile strike shortly before.
“Come, look, and then let's move with a plan on how to finish the war. You will understand with whom you have a deal. You will understand what Putin did,” Zelenskyy added.
Speaking about Russian terror, he noted, "This means that we can't trust Russia. It's that we can't trust negotiations with Russia."
The president also believes that Trump, “being a strong president of a strong country, must be on Ukraine's side.”
“I think it is wrong that America wants to be neutral,” Zelenskyy remarked.
