Victory on earth is made in skies: Ukraine’s Air Force Commander addresses NATO counterparts on air coalition
Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk addressed his counterparts from NATO member states, calling for the creation of an aviation coalition under the slogan "Victory on earth is made in the skies"
This was reported by the press service of the Air Force of Ukraine on Telegram.
On March 16, a symposium of NATO air force commanders was held. It was attended by the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk, who emphasized the current events at the front and the capacities that Ukraine needs.
"I am asking you to step up your efforts to provide the Air Force of Ukraine with modern fourth-generation multi-role fighters that can effectively protect our country from Russia's air terrorist attacks, as well as provide powerful air support to ground troops to liberate and de-occupy Ukrainian territories," he said.
Thus, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk called on the partners to create an aviation coalition under the slogan "Victory on earth is made in the skies!".
Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said during the telethon that the new coalition could be created similar to the tank coalition. In particular, it would help in obtaining modern multi-purpose aircraft as soon as possible so that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could conquer the airspace over Ukraine.
- Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said earlier that Ukraine could receive Polish MiG-29s within 4-6 weeks.
- Slovakia is also considering the transfer of MiG aircraft to Ukraine, but the decision has yet to be made by its parliament.
- Later, Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak said that the aviation coalition that will provide Ukraine with the fighters will be 100% formed.
