Japan to supply the US with explosives for the production of shells for the AFU

Tokyo and Washington have found a way to ensure the supply of explosives from Japan for the production of 155-millimeter artillery shells to be supplied to Ukraine for a counteroffensive. Reuters reported this with reference to two officials.

Export restrictions for dual-use products or equipment sold commercially are less stringent than for purely military goods, so Japan will be able to supply industrial trinitrotoluene to the United States.

According to the publication, the United States wants to involve a Japanese company in the trinitrotoluene supply chain to supply the explosive to ammunition plants owned by the US Army, where this material will be used, in particular, to produce 155 mm artillery shells.

Germany purchased 66 more armored personnel carriers for Ukraine

The German Federal Government has purchased additional military equipment to support Ukraine in its defense against the Russian attack. In particular, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive 66 armored personnel carriers.

It is known that a contract for 66 military armored personnel carriers was signed with Flensburger Fahrzeugbau GmbH (FFG). The new vehicles are to be delivered to Ukraine and used there as protected infantry transport.

It is not yet known when the carriers will be sent to Ukraine.

The government is also purchasing Bandvagn 206 (BV206) tracked multipurpose vehicles from FFG 64.

After explosions, ships began to flee the port of Russian-occupied Berdiansk

On the afternoon of June 2, explosions were heard in the port of the temporarily occupied Berdiansk.

“Explosions in Berdiansk! There are hits on the occupiers' positions. We thank the Ukrainian Armed Forces for bringing the liberation of the city closer. We are waiting for details and confirmation from the General Staff,” the Berdiansk City Military Administration noted.

According to some Telegram channels, several people saw gray smoke, which quickly disappeared. A smoke streak was also visible in the sky.

Russian-appointed official and collaborator Volodymyr Rohov confirmed that missiles hit the seaport. An explosion was also heard in the village of Osypenko. He wrote about several loud explosions in the city around 12:00 pm. According to preliminary data, there were three explosions. Rohov also stated that it was an attempted missile attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and that the Russian air defense system was allegedly triggered.

Telegram channels reported that ships began to flee the port of Berdiansk after the explosions.

US to help Ukraine build 'army of the future'

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the US will help build the Ukrainian ‘army of the future’.

According to him, the army of the future includes modern air forces, integrated air and missile defense, advanced tanks and armored vehicles, national munitions production capabilities, and training and support to keep forces and equipment combat ready.

At the same time, Washington will encourage other countries' initiatives to end the war if they comply with the UN Charter.

However, Washington will continue to support Ukraine militarily, as a prerequisite for effective diplomacy is that Kyiv is able to deter and defend itself against any future aggression, Blinken emphasized.

Russian forces suffered losses near Marinka

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff, the Russian troops attacked in the Marinka sector near the town of Marinka, but Ukrainian defenders repelled all eight assaults. Estimated enemy losses amounted to up to 10 soldiers killed and about 20 wounded. In addition, two units of enemy vehicles were destroyed.

Over the last day, Ukrainian aviation launched eight strikes on the occupying Russian troops' military positions, as well as two on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

During this day, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 15 cruise missiles and 17 enemy attack UAVs of the Shahed-136 type.

Over the course of the day, missile and artillery units hit a control center, two munitions depots, two electronic warfare stations, a radar station, as well as a multiple launch rocket system.
