Japan has imposed new sanctions against Russia

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Japan.

"In view of the current situation in Ukraine, as well as in order to contribute to Japan's international efforts to maintain international peace and based on the content of measures recently decided by the world's leading countries, the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, 28 July 2023, approved a partial amendment to the Export Trade Control Order to introduce measures to ban exports to Russia," the statement said.

The new restrictive measures will come into force on 9 August 2023.

The list of goods banned from export to Russia includes vehicles and spare parts for them. This includes petrol and diesel engines with a displacement of more than 1.9 litres. The list also includes hybrid cars and electric vehicles.

Ukraine wins first gold at the European Youth Olympic Festival

Athlete Olha Mashanenkova won the first gold medal for the Ukrainian national team at the 17th European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor.

Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south reach a critical Russian defensive line

Russian capital attacked by drones

Moscow authorities complain that on the night of July 27-28 , the Russian capital was attacked by an UAV. The Russian Ministry of Defence blames Ukraine for this.

"This morning, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack with an unmanned aerial vehicle against targets in the Moscow region was stopped," the statement said.

EU imposes new sanctions against Russia

On Friday, July 28, the European Union imposed new sanctions against 7 Russian individuals and five entities for spreading propaganda and disinformation.

This is stated on the website of the EU Council.

"Today the Council decided to impose restrictive measures against seven Russian individuals and five entities responsible for conducting a digital information manipulation campaign called 'RRN' (Recent Reliable News), aimed at distorting information and disseminating propaganda in support of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine," the statement said. 

Russian soldiers break down their own equipment and refuse to fight

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Amid successful combat operations of the Ukrainian Defence Forces and due to significant losses in manpower, the number of refusals to participate in hostilities has increased among the Russian occupation forces. Thus, near the village of Rozivka, Zaporizhzhia region, about 60 Russian servicemen from the 247th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Air Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces refused to perform combat missions near the village of Staromaiorske, Donetsk region. At the same time, occupying Russian forces partially disabled their own vehicles and armoured vehicles.

In addition, Ukrainian aviation carried out 3 strikes on the areas where enemy personnel were concentrated, and units of missile forces and artillery hit 8 artillery pieces in firing positions, 2 electronic warfare stations, an ammunition depot, and a Russian fuel and lubricant depot.
