Ukrainian troops improve tactical positions near Vuhledar
Fierce fighting continues near Vuhledar, Donetsk region. AFU are improving their tactical positions, carrying out counterattacks and pushing back the enemy
Military serviceman Oleksandr Voytko stated this on Espreso.
"Fierce battles are ongoing in Vuhledar, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are improving their positions near the city. The Russians launched counterattacks to the west in the Velyka Novosilka area but suffered losses in personnel and equipment and were forced to retreat. Ukrainian units are focusing on enemy positions south of Makarivka and preparing for further advancement to the south,” according to Voytko.
Voytko emphasized the importance of advances near Vuhledar.
“The tactical situation has improved compared to winter and spring, when the Russian army attempted to capture the city forcefully. Ukrainian units are now carrying out counterattacks and gradually pushing back the occupiers. This direction holds great significance as Vuhledar is close to Volnovakha, which is an important transport hub. Moreover, it leads towards Mariupol. I think everyone understands why it’s important. Once the first defensive lines of the Russian occupiers are breached, we can proceed in the direction of Mariupol,” he said.
