Military serviceman Oleksandr Voytko stated this on Espreso.

"Fierce battles are ongoing in Vuhledar, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are improving their positions near the city. The Russians launched counterattacks to the west in the Velyka Novosilka area but suffered losses in personnel and equipment and were forced to retreat. Ukrainian units are focusing on enemy positions south of Makarivka and preparing for further advancement to the south,” according to Voytko.

Voytko emphasized the importance of advances near Vuhledar.

“The tactical situation has improved compared to winter and spring, when the Russian army attempted to capture the city forcefully. Ukrainian units are now carrying out counterattacks and gradually pushing back the occupiers. This direction holds great significance as Vuhledar is close to Volnovakha, which is an important transport hub. Moreover, it leads towards Mariupol. I think everyone understands why it’s important. Once the first defensive lines of the Russian occupiers are breached, we can proceed in the direction of Mariupol,” he said.

  • On the morning of June 12, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that the Ukrainian state flag was raised again over Storozhove, Donetsk region.

  • She said that over the past week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had liberated 7 settlements and advanced 6.5 kilometers.

  • On June 19, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Russian troops were attacking in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Despite the losses, Russian troops are trying to advance, but are not successful.

  • Also, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Pyatykhatky, Zaporizhzhia region, and advanced up to 7 km in the Tavria direction.

  • On June 20, the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were consolidating their positions in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, while particularly heavy fighting was taking place in the Lyman direction.
