How might Trump react to Putin’s provocative behavior? Expert Zgurets weighs in
Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets believes Russia will delay and use arguments to prolong discussions with the U.S.
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"CNN has already reported that Russia has no intention of joining the 30-day ceasefire. This indicates that the U.S. will process this information. Yesterday, Trump stated that he heard Putin's initial reaction, saying that not everything has been said, and that he plans a personal meeting. But in reality, Russia will not agree to the ceasefire," noted Zgurets.
According to the CEO of Defense Express, Russia will try to manipulate the United States by delaying the process and putting forward various arguments to continue discussions and debates.
“At the same time, Russia will act in accordance with Putin's words, who said that everything is decided on the ground, there is a good dynamic there, and they do not intend to agree to a truce. If there is a ceasefire, Ukraine should stop mobilization, stop training the military during this period, and not receive foreign aid.
"These demands are, of course, not realistic preconditions for the Ukrainian side to agree to them. Currently, the enemy is trying to change the format of the discussions, shifting them to the U.S.-Russia relations, avoiding Europe's influence on the process, and distancing Ukraine from the initiatives, as this is their old practice and theory," emphasized Zgurets.
The CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company also added that if Trump is really irritated by Putin's behavior and when he is convinced that his conditional partner, who promises him something, acts completely differently, the Americans have some important leverage.
"Specifically, publicly announced sanctions are one factor, and the second is military. This means accelerating the supply of packages under programs established during Biden's time. Currently, there are no new packages from Trump, but they could come. There's also the possibility of speeding up the production of weapon models at American factories. These two factors could be implemented and have an impact on the situation at the front line," summarized Zgurets.
