Ukrainian Defense Forces have gains in two areas on southern front

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.

"In the directions of Novodanylivka - Novoprokopivka and Mala Tokmachka - Verbove, we have been successful, are consolidating on the gained lines, inflicting artillery fire on the identified enemy targets, and carrying out counter-battery measures," the statement said.

It noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces also are advancing in the Bakhmut and Melitopol directions.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders are advancing south of the city of Bakhmut and consolidating the gained positions.

In addition, Russian forces launched unsuccessful offensives near Krasnohorivka and Marinka, Donetsk region. According to the General Staff, Russian troops are suffering significant losses in personnel, weapons, and equipment, are relocating units and troops, and are actively using reserves.

"The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the Kupyansk, Lyman, and Bakhmut directions. The enemy launched unsuccessful offensives near Novoyehorivka, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Bohdanivka, Kurdyumivka, and Ozaryanivka in the Donetsk region. Heavy fighting continues," the statement added.

• On August 29, 35 combat clashes took place at the frontline. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Russian troops unsuccessfully conducted offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Lyman directions.

• The Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, spoke about the situation in the Kupyansk, Lyman, and Bakhmut directions: Ukrainian defenders are holding back the Russian offensive.
