Russian troops attack in Kupyansk-Lyman area; intense battle continues in Bakhmut sector — Ukrainian general
Commander of Ukraine's Land Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, comments on the situation in the Kupyansk, Lyman and Bakhmut sectors
The Military Media Center shared Syrkyi’s comment.
It noted that Ukrainian defenders are holding back the Russian offensive in the Kupyansk-Lyman direction. Despite their losses, Russian troops are trying to break through the defense with assault units on armored vehicles near the settlements of Rayhorodka and Kovalivka: the fiercest fighting is taking place there. At the same time, the Russian occupying army is regrouping and deploying fresh units from Russian territory to bolster its strength and combat effectiveness.
"Hot fighting is taking place in the Bakhmut direction every day. The enemy is trying to regain the lost positions at any cost, counterattacking our units several times a day. We are taking all measures to disrupt the enemy's plans and are gradually advancing," said Syrskyi.
He noted that intense fighting continues in the areas of Bakhmut, Kurdyumivka, Yahidne and Andriivka. These areas are receiving special attention, emphasized Syrskyi.
"Together with the commanders of the military units and brigades, we analyze the situation on a daily basis, make decisions on the actions of our troops on the ground, and take all measures to successfully complete combat missions," he added.
