Russia's losses exceed 262,000 soldiers, Ukraine's General Staff reports

This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 30.08.23 were approximately:

Russia attacks in the Bakhmut and Lyman sectors, unsuccessfully 

During the past day, 35 combat clashes occurred at the front. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the morning briefing on August 30.

Near the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the area of the northeastern border, Russian troops launched air strikes on three settlements in the Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 25 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russian troops shelled 6 settlements across the Kharkiv region. Three areas suffered from air strikes. 

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops shelled over 20 settlements across the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Five areas were subjected to air strikes. Russians tried to advance near Bilohorivka and Novoyehorivka, unsuccessfully. 

In the Bakhmut sector, Russians shelled over 25 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled Russian attacks in the area of Bohdanivka, Kurdyumivka, and Ozaryanivka. Three areas were subjected to air strikes. 

In the Avdiivka sector, Russian troops shelled over 5 settlements with artillery, and Avdiivka suffered from air strikes.

In the Marinka sector, Russian troops shelled 6 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery. Ukrainian forces hold the defense near Marinka. Two areas suffered from air strikes.

In the Shakhtarsk area, Russian troops shelled 6 settlements and launched air strikes near one settlement.  

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson sectors, Russian troops shelled over 30 settlements in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Two areas suffered from air strikes.

Meanwhile, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue their offensive operation in Melitopol and Berdyansk sectors. They are holding their positions and countering enemy attacks.

Russia launched 5 missile strikes and 60 air strikes against Ukraine

On August 29, the enemy army launched 5 missile strikes and 60 airstrikes, conducting 68 MLRS attacks against Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas. This led to casualties among the civilian population and caused destruction to residential buildings and other essential infrastructure.

The likelihood of further missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains considerable.

Ukrainian army hits Russian positions and the TOS-1A Solntsepyok

In the past day, the Defense Forces' aircraft conducted 8 strikes targeting enemy personnel concentration areas and 4 strikes on their anti-aircraft missile systems.

Rocket troops and artillery units also targeted an area where enemy personnel, weapons, military equipment, and a heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A Solntsepyok were concentrated.

• On August 29, it was reported that the Defense Forces continued their counteroffensive in the Melitopol direction. Particularly, Ukrainian defenders achieved success in the Novodanylivka – Verbove direction in the Zaporizhzhia region and solidified their positions along the attained boundaries.
