Ukrainian Armed Forces succeed south of liberated Urozhaine

This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"The enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Senkivka, Kharkiv region, and Bohdanivka, Donetsk region. Heavy fighting continues here," the statement reads.

It is noted that the Ukrainian army was successful south of Urozhaine. There, the defenders are consolidating their positions, inflicting artillery fire on the identified Russian targets. The Defense Forces are also carrying out counter-battery measures.

According to the General Staff, in the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops continue to conduct offensive operations south of the city of Bakhmut, consolidating their positions.

Instead, the occupiers conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Avdiivka and Marinka. They are suffering significant losses in personnel, weapons and equipment, are moving units and troops, and are actively using reserves. 

"The Ukrainian Defense Forces also continue to hold back the offensive of Russian troops at the Kupyansk, Lyman and northern flank of the Bakhmut directions," the statement reads.

The General Staff also added that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to advance at the Bakhmut, Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.

• On August 16, the Ukrainian military completely liberated Urozhaine in the Donetsk region. The defense forces are consolidating their positions.

• In a morning statement on August 17, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in the Bakhmut direction, the Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Bohdanivka, Donetsk region.
