Russia loses 480 soldiers, 24 UAVs in one day

This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 17.08.23 were approximately:

Russians set up a field hospital in a civilian building in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region

The morning report says that the Russian aggressors are still using buildings in temporarily occupied areas to give medical help to their injured soldiers.

They turned a regular building into a field hospital in Shevchenkivske village, Zaporizhzhia region, where they are currently treating over 30 wounded Russian soldiers.

Russians launched 8 missile and 82 air strikes against Ukraine

The General Staff reports that in the last 24 hours, the enemy fired 8 missile strikes and 82 air attacks. They also launched 76 MLRS attacks against our troops and towns.

The Russian attacks destroyed important areas like the port in Odesa, residential buildings, and other civil infrastructure in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipro, and Kherson regions.

Our air defense destroyed 2 cruise missiles (Kh-35/Kh-59) and 16 enemy Shahed-136/131 UAVs in the past day.

20 combat clashes took place at the front in one day. Situation in different regions of Ukraine 

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian troops launched air strikes on five settlements in the Kharkiv region. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 15 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops shelled 3 settlements across the Kharkiv region. Seven areas suffered from air strikes. Ukrainian forces hold the defense, while Russians try to advance near Senkivka. 

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops shelled nearly 20 settlements across the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Three areas were subjected to air strikes.  

In the Bakhmut direction, Russians shelled over 15 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled Russian attacks in the area of Bohdanivka. Four areas were subjected to air strikes. 

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements with artillery. Ukrainian forces repelled all the attacks near Avdiivka.  

In the Marinka direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery, and two areas suffered from air strikes. Ukrainian forces hold the defense neae Marinka. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements and launched air strikes near 3 settlements.  

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops shelled over 30 settlements across Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, and two areas were subjected to air strikes.

Meanwhile, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue their offensive operation in Melitopol and Berdyansk directions. They are holding their positions and countering enemy attacks.

Ukrainian forces destroy 8 Russian reconnaissance drones and an air defense system

Our Defense Forces' planes made 10 attacks on areas where the enemy's personnel, weapons, and military equipment were gathered. They also attacked an anti-aircraft missile system. Our military took out 8 of the enemy's operational-tactical level reconnaissance UAVs.

The General Staff says that our missile and artillery units hit 1 of the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems yesterday.

• On August 16, Ukrainian military fully liberated Urozhaine in the Donetsk region. The Defense Forces are now holding their positions.
