Ukrainian troops create preconditions for further advance in south, positive changes near Bakhmut - military expert Zgurets
Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets believes that there is no need to create a complete encirclement of Bakhmut now because Russia continues to move its forces to this area, which allows Ukraine to destroy its reserves and prevent enemy troops from advancing in other directions
He said this on Espreso TV.
"In the south, Ukrainian troops are creating preconditions for further advance. These are combat operations in the direction of Tokmak, where they are putting pressure on the Russian units from Robotyne towards Verbove and beyond. According to the General Staff's report yesterday, September 10, Russian troops are trying to conduct counterattacks there, but the insertion of Ukrainian forces between Robotyne and Verbove with further advancement indicates Ukraine's steady progress. The Russian army has moved reserves to this area and is trying to strengthen this grouping on the flanks. However, Ukraine has also reinforced its flanks to minimize the risks of enemy counterattacks," explained the military expert.
Serhiy Zgurets noted that the overall situation looks quite predictable, given that if Ukraine has enough forces and artillery, this area will remain a priority.
"Speaking of Bakhmut, there are also positive changes in the south. In the area of Klishchiivka, the Russian army has left only a few houses, as the Ukrainian militaries say. Ukrainian units and artillery are actively working there. Advances are being made in the area of Andriivka in the south and north, they also push the Russian enemy back to the railroad, which is a long line of defense. This area is interesting because Ukrainian units are advancing towards Zelenopillia. In other words, the bridgehead is actually being expanded to create the preconditions for first encircling Bakhmut with fire before Ukraine's forces advance to ensure full coverage of the city," noted the director of Defense Express company.
Zgurets added that there is no need for this now because this political trap for the enemy to hold Bakhmut causes the Russian army to transfer more and more reserves. Accordingly, the Russian forces are being destroyed and there is no advance of Russian troops in other directions.
"By the way, Russia has been moving its units to the south from the area where it is trying to attack in some way, Kupyansk - Svatove - Kreminna. There are several directions there - Sinkivka, Novoselivske, and the main direction where they are trying to reach the heights, near Novoyehorivka. The destruction of Russian armored vehicles continued there. Given the use of artillery and a certain number of units in this area, this allows Ukraine to hold its positions and repel the invader's attempts to reach the borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Russia lacks the capabilities to achieve this political goal," the analyst summarized.
