Ukraine’s military grouping on situation in Bakhmut: Battles in urban areas are most difficult
The spokesman for the Eastern military grouping, Serhiy Cherevatyi, said that the situation in Bakhmut is constantly changing, a positional war is underway
Serhiy Cherevatyi informed this in a telethon.
"In the area of responsibility of the eastern group of troops, the Russian forces continue to conduct active offensive actions in the Bakhmut and Kupyansk-Lyman directions. Over the last day, 302 attacks from cannon and rocket artillery on Ukrainian positions took place in the Bakhmut sector, 22 combat clashes took place in the locality alone," said Cherevaty.
A spokesman for the Eastern Military Group said that Ukrainian soldiers killed 71 Russian militants and wounded 88 in Bakhmut over the past day.
Street fighting continues in the city, and the situation is constantly changing, so it is difficult to talk about the proportion of controlled territory.
"It's a positional war there, the situation is constantly changing, depending on the fire damage. The enemy can occupy a building, but after Ukraine's heavy attack, they can withdraw and our military can take up these positions. Sometimes the enemy manages to take some action. Therefore, fighting in urban areas is one of the most difficult types of combat," added Cherevatyi.
