Ukraine's Foreign Ministry asks The Hague to react to Ukrainian soldier beheading video

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is asking The Hague to react to the video of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier by Russian soldiers. At the same time, Minister Dmytro Kuleba called for Russia's expulsion from the UN

This is stated in the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"The killing of a Ukrainian prisoner of war captured on video is a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions and is a war crime in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. According to the Rome Statute, such actions can also be qualified as a crime against humanity. We call on the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to immediately investigate yet another atrocity of the Russian military in the context of the investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by citizens of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called.

The Foreign Ministry also appealed to the international community to increase assistance to Ukraine to protect civilians from Russian genocide and liberate the occupied territories.

Earlier, commenting on the video of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier by the Russian occupiers, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called for the expulsion of Russia from the UN

He wrote about this on Twitter.

"A horrific video of Russian troops decapitating a Ukrainian prisoner of war is circulating online. It’s absurd that Russia, which is worse than ISIS, is presiding over the UNSC. Russian terrorists must be kicked out of Ukraine and the UN and be held accountable for their crimes," Kuleba said.

It should be noted that the presidency of the UN Security Council changes every month. Each member state takes turns in the presidency.

Since April, Russia has held the presidency of the UN Security Council. According to Article 24 of the UN Charter, the UN Security Council, as a permanent body, is responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security.

On the evening of April 11, a video was posted showing the Russian occupiers executing a man, calling him a Ukrainian soldier.
