Ukraine's Defense Minister is convinced that Ukraine will finalize issue of fighter jets
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that Ukraine's No.1 priority is air defense, and the issue of aviation will be completed
The Defense Minister said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Oleksii Reznikov noted that at the meetings of the Contact Group for the Ukrainian Defense in Ramstein, approved decisions are made public, and the key task of Kyiv and partners is to provide the Armed Forces with spare parts, maintenance, repair and ammunition for the systems that have already been received.
In particular, the minister emphasized that "we will get the issue of aircraft for the defenders resolved," and when asked by a journalist about the likely year of the aircraft's delivery, he said:
"This is the factor I was talking about - practicality. Aircraft are the most expensive. Accordingly, it is very expensive to provide airplanes, then maintain them, plus missiles and bombs for them. Therefore, when making a decision, you need to understand whether everyone is ready to sign up for it. We signed up for tanks, and we see that some people gave four, some six of them... Not two hundred, not three hundred.
The key player here is still the United States, and they are very pragmatic, they count money. And this is normal, it is viable. Because we have partners who have given us something and then say: we can't service you anymore, we don't have the resources, if you want to buy it, buy it. It seems to be fair... And the same situation is with airplanes. When it is calculated how much and who is ready to give and maintain them at the proper level, the decision will be made."
