Ukraine's defence forces are working to completely destroy Russian group in Bakhmut - military expert Kyrychevskyi
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that the Defence Forces are conducting an operation to completely destroy the Russian group in the Bakhmut sector
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"The Defence Forces have launched an offensive in the Bakhmut sector. Our troops are now advancing along the entire width of the frontline where the occupiers tried to advance this winter. However, it is worth noting that the conditions for the advance of our troops in the Bakhmut sector are equally difficult as in the South. According to official reports, Russian occupiers are using fortification lines in the Bakhmut sector that our troops were forced to leave," Kyrychevskyi explained.
The expert stressed that the offensive of the Defence Forces in the Bakhmut sector requires time and resources.
"In May, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, clearly explained that the goal of the Defence Forces is to surround Bakhmut and destroy the Russian group in the city. Accordingly, we need to prepare for this campaign to last for several more weeks. Obviously, the winner in this battle will be the one who is charged for a longer confrontation. And it looks like the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not just taking the initiative in the Bakhmut sector, but are aiming to finish off the Russian forces. It's just a matter of time," he added.
- On the morning of 27 June, the General Staff reported that in the Bakhmut sector, Russian forces had made unsuccessful offensives in the direction of Bohdanivka.
- On 27 June, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said that the offensive in the Bakhmut sector had been going on for four days, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces had not yet entered the town. The area has features that complicate the process of de-occupation.
