Offensive in Bakhmut sector lasts for 4 days, Ukrainian forces have not entered Bakhmut yet
The offensive in the Bakhmut sector has been going on for four days, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not yet entered the city. Strongholds in the area complicate the process of de-occupation
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Hanna Maliar.
"At present, the offensive in the Bakhmut sector has been going on for 4 days. Our defenders make daily advances on the flanks. It is gradual but steady. As of today, they have not entered the city of Bakhmut," she wrote.
According to her, the area of Bakhmut and its suburbs has a developed system of engineering fortifications and an extensive network of strongholds, which makes it somewhat difficult to liberate the area.
"All of this was once prepared by our military and local authorities for defence, which is what helped to hold it for so long. But now these fortifications and strongholds are occupied by the Russian enemy, so it will take a little more effort and patience to liberate these lands," the official said.
