UK plans to study Canada's experience in confiscating Russian assets
UK Foreign Minister James Cleverly has promised that his government will closely study the Canadian model of seizing the assets of sanctioned Russian oligarchs and using them to help Ukraine
This is reported by Sky News.
“It is the most obvious tenet of natural justice that those individuals and entities who funded the brutality which is being directed at Ukraine and Ukrainian people are ultimately those that should then go on to carry the heaviest burden for the payment, for the cost of the reconstruction and rebuilding of that country,” the minister said.
“We work closely with our Canadian allies. I discussed this with the Canadian prime minister on my recent visit to Canada, and we will look closely and learn lessons from the activities they are taking on this very issue,” James Cleverly added.
