Athletes Luzan and Rybachok bring Ukraine silver at 2024 Olympics in canoeing
Ukrainian athletes Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok win silver at the Olympic Games in Paris in the 500m double sculls

The silver medalists of the 2020 Paris Olympics in the double sculls from Ukraine finished third in their semifinal and advanced to the deciding race.
In the final, Luzan and Rybachok started slowly and were in sixth place after 250 meters. However, they gained momentum in the second half of the course and, thanks to a strong finish, secured the silver medal with a time of 1 minute 54.30 seconds. A photo finish determined the silver medalists, with the Ukrainians edging out the bronze medalists from Canada by 0.06 seconds. Rowers from China won the gold medal.
Luzan is also a bronze medalist in the 200-meter single sculls at the 2020 Games.
Ukraine's performance at 2024 Olympics
Ukraine's national team won 10 medals at the Olympic Games in Paris, securing 3 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze.
Gold
On August 3, Olha Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk, Olena Kravatska, and Yulia Bakastova won Ukraine's first gold medal in team sabre fencing. On August 4, track and field athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh became the Olympic champion in the high jump. On August 7, boxer Oleksandr Khyzhniak became the strongest in the 80 kg category.
Silver
On August 1, Serhiy Kulish won the first silver medal for Ukraine's team in the small-caliber rifle shooting from three positions at 50 meters. On August 5, Illia Kovtun became the second in the uneven bars in artistic gymnastics. On August 8, Parviz Nasibov won another silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 67 kg category.
Bronze
Olha Harlan also won bronze in the individual sabre fencing competition. Two more bronze medals went to track and field athletes. Iryna Herashchenko took third in the high jump and Mykhailo Kokhan in the hammer throw. Zhan Beleniuk, a Herculean Roman wrestler in the 87 kg category, also took third.
