The silver medalists of the 2020 Paris Olympics in the double sculls from Ukraine finished third in their semifinal and advanced to the deciding race.

In the final, Luzan and Rybachok started slowly and were in sixth place after 250 meters. However, they gained momentum in the second half of the course and, thanks to a strong finish, secured the silver medal with a time of 1 minute 54.30 seconds. A photo finish determined the silver medalists, with the Ukrainians edging out the bronze medalists from Canada by 0.06 seconds. Rowers from China won the gold medal.
