Scholz announces new Defense Minister of Germany
Social Democrat Boris Pistorius will be appointed as the new German Defence Minister

This was announced by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Twitter.
"I am glad that Boris Pistorius, an outstanding politician from our country, will be the new Minister of Defense. Thanks to his experience, competence and perseverance, as well as his big heart, he is exactly the person that the Bundeswehr needs at a turning point," Scholz wrote.
Earlier, the appointment of Pistorius was reported by Spiegel. He will replace Christine Lambrecht, who resigned on January 16.
Boris Pistorius was born in 1960. From 2006 to 2013 he was the mayor of Osnabrück, since 2013 he has been the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lower Saxony. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany.
