Russia’s State Duma confirms deportation of 700,000 Ukrainian children
The State Duma announced that 700,000 Ukrainian children had been deported to Russia since 2014. Some were taken out together with their parents, and children from orphanages were taken out with their teachers
The head of the International Committee of the Federation Council Grigory Karasin wrote about this on Telegram.
"In the past few years, 700,000 children escaped from bombings and attacks in war zones in Ukraine and found a safe place here. Many of them came with their parents, and the children from orphanages came with their teachers, as well," he wrote.
Deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia:
The exact number of children forcibly taken from Ukraine cannot be determined.
On January 18, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets mentioned on Espreso that the Russian Federation has taken away "tens of thousands" of children from Ukraine, but no information about them is being provided.
In March, lawyer Kateryna Rashevska from the Regional Center for Human Rights reported on Espreso that more than 1.5 million Ukrainian children have been deported by the Russian Federation since the beginning of the aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, lawyer Myroslava Kharchenko mentioned the number of 730,000 deported children.
On May 13, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a briefing in Rome that it is known for certain that more than 19,300 children have been deported by the Russians.
The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Russian Federation Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova due to the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
