Russia has taken away tens of thousands of children from Ukraine and does not provide information about them - Ukrainian ombudsman
At least one family of Ukrainians has reunited due to communication between human rights commissioners of Ukraine and Russia
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets informed on the situation on Espreso TV.
"We raised the issue of Ukrainian children. They do not officially provide information, but (Russian human rights commissioner - ed.) Moskalkova informed me. According to her information, there is a group of Ukrainian children who do not want to stay in Russia, but want to leave. They refused to provide their data, but we reached a compromise. I am officially collecting information about those who are looking for their children - if they are found in the territory of the Russian Federation, Moskalkova will do everything to bring them home," he said.
According to Lubinets, the process is ongoing.
"We have a positive track on the return of children, where she personally helped. It's not massive, but at least one family was reunited through communication between us. I really hope that this work will be expanded globally. According to our information, we are talking about tens of thousands of Ukrainian children who were forcibly taken to the territory of the Russian Federation. We want to do everything we can to bring them back home," the ombudsman summarized.
