Russian troops suffer more losses in defense, Ukrainian army grind Russian forces in offensive - former platoon commander of Aidar battalion
According to Yevhen Dykyi, a civic activist and former platoon commander of the Aidar battalion, the Ukrainian forces are effectively depleting Russian troops’ resources and steadily wearing them down on the first line of defense
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"In general, the ongoing developments on the front line are putting a strain on Russian resources and gradually grinding their forces. Ukrainian forces are driving the enemy out of their positions on the first of the three defense lines. We are currently dismantling the first line of enemy defense. Our approach is not focused on breaking through the enemy's defense at a single point, as it is not a continuous line but rather a series of checkpoints and strongholds. We are systematically and methodically either destroying or occupying these positions. Unfortunately, the enemy responds with an effective and flexible defense, meaning that they retreat, and then, when we enter their positions, they begin to shell these positions with artillery and aircraft. The enemy then reinforces their troops to counter our fighters. However, our artillery is prepared for this fresh enemy reinforcement, resulting in significant losses for the Russians in terms of the armored vehicles they utilize to reclaim the strongholds we have recently liberated," explained the former platoon commander of the Aidar battalion.
According to Yevhen Dykyi, Ukrainian troops are effectively eliminating the first line of defense and strategically aiming to deprive Russian forces of armored vehicles for the subsequent stage. The objective is to reach the second line of defense, leaving the Russians with insufficient armor to fill the gaps and strengthen their positions.
"Of course, we suffer losses, as in any offensive operation. But even though the enemy has an advantage in artillery and aviation, we can still say for sure that the ratio of losses is clearly higher for the Russians. And this is not typical at all, because those on the defensive usually lose less. This is just an indicator that the enemy is already severely weakened and is fighting, to put it mildly, imperfectly. Unfortunately, this ratio is partially decided by enemy aircraft, which remains the last advantage, because otherwise the enemy is at a disadvantage. The enemy still has a lot of forces there, so the task of our defenders is extremely difficult given the enemy's superiority in artillery and aviation. But due to thoughtful and competent actions, even at such a slow pace, it seems that even in the offensive we are grinding the enemy forces, and not vice versa," said Dykyi.
