Russian occupiers launch 98 missiles at Ukraine and carry out MLRS 65 attacks over the past day

On December 16, Russian troops launched a massive missile attack on the civilian and energy infrastructure of Ukraine: the enemy launched 98 missiles and fired more than 65 times from MLRS

This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Russian invaders launched a massive missile attack on the civilian and energy infrastructure of our country. In total, the enemy fired 98 missiles and carried out more than 65 attacks from multiple rocket launchers," the press service said. 

The General Staff stressed that the threat of Russian missile and air strikes on Ukrainian critical infrastructure persists.

On the border with Belarus, the situation has not changed significantly, experts have found no signs of offensive groups of the enemy.

On the northern and northeastern Ukrainian border with Russia, the Russian forces shelled with artillery the areas of the settlements of Hai in Chernihiv region; Havrylova Sloboda, Seredyna-Buda, Yastrubyne and Kindrativka in Sumy region and 6 more settlements in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction the areas of Synkivka, Orlianka, Tabaivka, Berestove and Vyshneve in Kharkiv region and Volodymyrivka and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region came under hostile fire.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy fired at Ukrainian positions near Makiivka, Ploschanka, Chervonopopivka, Dibrova and Hirske in Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions, Russian troops shelled more than 25 settlements in particular:, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Soledar, Bakhmut, Opytne, Mariinka and Pervomayske in Donetsk region.

In the Vuhledar direction of the Donetsk region the enemy shelled near Bohoyavlenka, Neskuchne, Prechystivka and Vuhledar. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian occupiers continue to destroy civilian infrastructure of cities and towns along the right bank of the Dnipro River with artillery fire. More than 35 settlements were shelled, among them: Plavni, Huliaypole, Dorozhnianka, Olhivske and Nikopol in Zaporizhzhia region and Chornobaivka, Antonivka, Kherson and Mylove in Kherson region.

  • During the air alert on December 16, air defense was activated in a number of regions of Ukraine, the Russian occupiers hit critical infrastructure in Kharkiv, and energy infrastructure in Kyiv.
  • In the morning of December 16, during massive missile attacks on Ukraine, one of the Russian missiles hit a residential building in Kryvyi Rih. Four people, including a couple with their 18-month-old toddler were killed.
