Russian-bordered Sumy region, which endures frequent attacks, will strengthen its air defense
Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, commander of the AFU Joint Forces, has announced the gradual strengthening of air defense in the Sumy direction
This was reported by the press service of the AFU Joint Forces.
"Our air defense system depends to some extent on international military and technical assistance. Therefore, we are increasing the level of protection of critical infrastructure within the resources we receive," Nayev said.
According to him, the air defense in the Sumy sector is being gradually strengthened.
In particular, the Defense Forces have additionally deployed several firing groups armed with large-caliber machine guns with collimator and thermal imaging sights to destroy air targets at night.
"The groups are also equipped with searchlights. Being at one of the firing positions, I personally observed the work of the crews of these mobile firing groups during an attack by enemy drones. But to make the Ukrainian sky more secure, we need additional assistance from our Western partners," the commander noted.
