Witkoff left waiting in Moscow for 8 hours while Putin holds talks with Belarus' Lukashenko
During his visit to Moscow, U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff waited for 8 hours to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, who was engaged in talks with self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko
SkyNews reported the information.
According to their information, Witkoff spent just over 12 hours in Moscow in total. However, it appears that for most of this time, the U.S. special representative was simply waiting for his meeting.
After arriving in Russia, Witkoff had to wait at least eight hours before being invited to the Kremlin. Journalists suggest that during this time, Putin was meeting with Lukashenko, who had unexpectedly announced his visit to Moscow the day before.
“We don't know for sure if the timing of Mr Lukashenko's visit was deliberate, but it certainly didn't feel like a coincidence. Instead, it felt like a classic Putin power play,” the SkyNews article says.
Journalists noted that in this way, the Kremlin leader likely sent a message to the Americans: "I'm the boss, I set the schedule, and I'm not beholden to anyone".
