Ukrainian border guards evacuate four civilians from near Vovchansk
Servicemen from the Chop Border Guard Detachment helped four residents of the Kharkiv region escape from the area under Russian shelling
The Western Regional Directorate of Ukraine's State Border Guard Service reported this, according to Espreso.
Russian shelling leaves people homeless
"Three women and a man living in a border village were left homeless due to Russian strikes. They were reluctant to leave the war-torn village for a long time, until enemy shelling destroyed their home. They turned for help to the State Border Guard Service soldiers who are holding the defense in this area," the statement says.
“Taking their personal belongings and some food, the civilians together with the border guards began evacuating in the evening to avoid being spotted by the Russian forces. Luckily, they managed to avoid being shelled,” the statement says.
Civilians were handed over to volunteers and police
Border guards took the victims to the evacuation point and then transported them to a safe settlement by car. The victims were handed over to law enforcement and volunteers.
- Yevhen Bielov, the head of the Free Kharkiv Movement, stated that Russian troops are blocking civilian evacuations from the temporarily occupied area of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.
