Kostiantyn Kryvolap, former Antonov test engineer and aviation expert, says that the F-16 will receive accurate target coordinates thanks to data from the Saab 340 radar surveillance aircraft

He said this on Espreso TV.

"We get a lot of information from our partners, we have air defense, we have special radars that also monitor Ukraine's airspace. Along the border with Poland and Romania, NATO AWACS surveillance aircraft conduct constant patrols, which can see about 800 kilometers away. Another source of information for us is the drones that fly over the Black Sea and even fly up to Gelendzhik, where Putin can vacation. So, we have some information, but the main task of the Swedish Saab 340 aircraft is that we were concerned about the range of the radar on the F-16s that will soon be operating in our airspace. If this radar has a shorter range than the radar on the Su-35, if the missiles have a shorter range than the Su-35, then the F-16s will be targets for the Su-35," the aviation expert said.

According to him, and with the advent of the Swedish Saab 340 aircraft, which can see the entire space, the information will be transmitted to the F-16.

"Even the F-16's radar won't see the target, but it will know its exact coordinates thanks to the data from the Saab 340. The F-16 pilot will only have to launch the missile, because the missile will also be given the appropriate targeting. This solves the problem with radar, with the Su-35, and with missile ranges. Therefore, this is the main task of the Saab 340 aircraft. Apparently, the Swedes are providing us with one of the latest radar modifications for the Saab 340. This Swedish aircraft sees everything that flies in our direction, so we can give targeting instructions to everything we have to hit enemy targets accurately, reliably, and efficiently," Kryvolap summarized.

  • Sweden has presented the sixteenth and so far the largest aid package to Ukraine, worth EUR 1.16 billion. It includes aircraft, armored vehicles, ammunition, and tanks.
  • Defence Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that the Swedes are proving Ukraine with a radar surveillance aircraft to help F-16s better see Russian aircraft with guided bombs in the sky.
  • Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, noted that the moment of the F-16's arrival in Ukraine is so close that you can already hear the roar of the engines.
  • Valeriy Romanenko, an aviation expert and leading researcher at the State Aviation Museum, also noted that the Saab 340 radar surveillance aircraft will radically change the situation in the air.
