Russia's war of attrition isn't going as planned – military expert Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert, emphasizes that Ukraine must focus on minimizing its own losses while maximizing the opportunity to wear down and defeat the enemy
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"While Russia’s defense lines are extensive, their advances, despite the high intensity of combat, have stalled. The challenge for our leadership is to rethink our defense strategy, particularly around mobilizing and training brigades according to command-level needs. This responsibility lies squarely with our military and political leaders," Zgurets explained.
Zgurets also emphasized that Ukrainian forces on the front lines are performing exceptionally well. The number of Russian casualties indicates that the war of attrition is not unfolding as the Kremlin had hoped, with their losses continuing to mount. Ukraine's priority must be to minimize its own costs while using this grinding conflict to weaken Russia.
"The delay in the Ramstein talks is linked to some U.S. domestic political maneuvering, but it’s far from a catastrophe. No need for panic. Our defenses are holding strong, and these challenges, I believe, will be addressed with the right decisions," Zgurets stressed.
In the last 24 hours, 198 clashes occurred along the front. Russian forces are focusing their attacks on the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, and Lyman directions.
Artem Lysohor, head of the Luhansk regional military administration, mentioned that Russian troops aim to push toward the Kharkiv region’s borders.
Andriy Otchenash, commander of an unmanned aerial unit in the 4th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, added that many Russian soldiers now simply want to survive and are ready to surrender.
