Russian strikes prove daily that it is Russia that must be forced to peace — Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a Supreme Commander-in-Chief's staff meeting, where the participants analyzed Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine during the night of March 7
He shared the information on Telegram.
According to him, the participants of the meeting discussed the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense.
“I held a staff meeting. There was a detailed analysis of today’s Russian strike and the use of our air defense. Typically, after massive attacks, we conduct such analyses of combat operations – identifying weaknesses and sharing experiences that are valuable. Today, we received all the relevant reports on this. Special attention was given to the effectiveness of our air defense,” Zelenskyy said.
He recalled that during the night, Russian troops launched over 260 air attack weapons, including cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as attack drones.
The President emphasized that Ukraine has shown its readiness for peace and offered concrete steps toward this, but Russia continued to pursue its aggression.
“Today, this Russian strike on our energy system and civilian targets was so routine for Russia, so wicked and cynical, as always, as if there were no efforts by Ukraine and the world to end this war. Ukraine is ready for peace as soon as possible: we have proposed concrete steps. And every day, new Russian strikes and the reality itself prove that it is Russia that needs to be forced into peace – to stop the war, to engage in real diplomacy, to guarantee security, and to ensure a reliable, lasting peace,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
- On March 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is striving for peace and proposed initial steps to end the war with Russia. According to him, the first steps could include an exchange of prisoners, an immediate ceasefire in the skies that would prohibit missiles, long-range drones, and bombing of energy and other civilian infrastructure, as well as “an immediate truce at sea if Russia agrees to do the same.”
