Zelenskyy says he is ready to work under Trump's 'strong leadership'
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said to the U.S. counterpart Donald Trump that Ukraine is striving for peace and proposed the first steps to end the war with Russia
He wrote about this on the social network X.
According to him, “nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians.”
“I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer,” he said.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy added he is ready to sign a minerals and security agreement with the United States and to work under president Donald Trump’s “strong leadership” to get lasting peace.
Zelenskyy assured that the Ukrainian government is ready to “work quickly to end the war.”
According to him, the first steps could be:
- release of prisoners;
- an immediate ceasefire in the skies, which includes a ban on missiles, long-range drones, bombing of energy and other civilian infrastructure,
- as well as “an immediate truce at sea if Russia does the same.”
“Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal,” he added.
