Russian drones, missiles take unusual routes in night attack on Kyiv — military expert
Military expert Vladyslav Selezniov says that during Russia’s April 24 attack on Kyiv, some Russian missiles and drones approached from the northwest, which, in a straight line, is the border with Belarus
He said this on Espreso TV.
“In repelling the most massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv, not only F-16s and Mirages were involved, but also mobile fire groups of the Air Force, our air defense and missile defense operators. Unfortunately, we still lack enough air defense systems. Western partners make promises, but they do not provide enough launchers and missiles, nor do they deliver them in a timely manner for us to feel protected and safe.
Under such conditions, it is not worth talking about effectively repelling attacks of this scale. If we look at the posts in monitoring channels that informed us about the air attack that night, we would be surprised by the routes and trajectories along which enemy drones and missiles moved toward our capital,” the military expert noted.
According to him, it was quite strange to discover that some missiles and drones entered Kyiv from the northwest. This raises the question—where could these missiles come from? Because, in a straight line, that direction leads directly to the border with Belarus. Recently, the territory of that country has not been used by the enemy for missile and drone strikes. However, tonight, it happened.
“The enemy is looking for weak spots, gaps in our air defense system, to exploit them. The consequences are terrible. Once again, we have to state that the aggressor does not care how many civilians suffer or how many so-called collateral losses there are. I looked at the map of Kyiv showing the locations where enemy drones and missiles hit, and there is not a single military facility there.
So, Putin deliberately used missiles to kill as many Kyiv residents as possible and to plunge people into an atmosphere of panic, chaos, and despair. Again, we must repeat that it is important not to ignore air raid signals. The enemy is using means against which the ‘two walls’ rule does not help. For example, Shaheds are now being used with a warhead not of 60 kg, but up to 90 kg, so the level of destruction is equivalent to the explosion of a KAB weighing up to 250 kg. It is known that Kalibr or Iskander missiles carry hundreds of kilograms of explosives. Therefore, it is important to follow safety rules during air raids,” Vladyslav Selezniov emphasized.
- On the night of April 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles. In Kyiv, people were killed as a result of the UAV attack, and fires broke out in several districts of the city. There is destruction in the region. Ukrainian defenders shot down 48 missiles and 64 enemy drones.
