Redefining tactics: Ukrainian tanks deliver precision strikes from concealed positions in Kharkiv sector
Ivan, tank company commander with the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade, says that Ukrainian tanks fire from closed positions to avoid being hit by Russian drones
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"In our tank company, we have the first Leopards. Everyone said these machines were old, and had lived their time. However, because of the rifled guns on these tanks, we operate like snipers, as these machines hit precisely. We work like artillery from concealed positions. There was an instance when the Russians gathered in a wooded area at a distance of 8,600 meters, which was detected by our aerial reconnaissance. Information came in that in that square Russian troops were located, and we directed our tanks there and engaged," said the soldier.
According to him, after striking the square where the Russian troops were located, aerial reconnaissance conducts additional surveillance to assess the level of damage to the Russians’ position.
"The tank operates accurately from concealed positions, even at a distance of nearly 9 kilometers. We completely changed the stereotypes about tanks - that this machine is only used for assaults or direct fire. We started using the tactic of firing from concealed positions because Russian forces constantly deploy their FPV drones. To ensure the safety of both ourselves and our machines, we operate from concealed positions," explained the tank company commander.
