Russian troops edge closer to water barrier with pincer movements in Kupyansk direction
Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, former Defense Forces commander and Hero of Ukraine, stressed that stopping Russian forces requires decisive strikes to reduce their offensive capabilities
He made these remarks in an interview with Espreso TV.
"In the east, Russian forces are persistently advancing. Wherever they sense an opportunity, they push forward. Currently, the Russians are advancing on Kupyansk, closing in on a water obstacle with pincer movements. There’s some slight progress. They also aim to encircle our forces near Kurakhove, descending from Hirnyk to seal the trap. This situation also extends to the Vuhledar area," Nayev detailed.
He explained that by consistently attacking and conducting combat reconnaissance, Russian troops probe for vulnerabilities to exploit for potential breakthroughs. This forms the basis of their operational tactics.
"To halt the enemy, we must strike and diminish their offensive potential. We need to deploy all available weaponry and military equipment our eastern brigades have — artillery, UAVs, anti-tank missile systems of various ranges, anti-tank grenade launchers, and aviation. While they outnumber us in the air, we still have the capability and are using it. Striking them, limiting their combat power, and making tactical decisions in each sector is how we win," Nayev added.
- Meanwhile, Russian forces are employing various weapons against the Vovchansk aggregate plant, which was fully liberated by HUR units on September 24.
- Since Monday, September 30, 189 combat clashes have erupted across the front lines. Russian troops dropped 128 guided aerial bombs in just one day.
- Serhii Zgurets, a military expert and Defense Express CEO, noted that Russian forces have entered the western and eastern outskirts of Vuhledar, with Ukrainian troops holding firm in the center.
