Withdrawal of Ukrainian units, logistical support extremely complicated around Vuhledar — military expert
Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company, notes that Russian troops have advanced into the western and eastern parts of Vuhledar, while Ukrainian forces are defending the central section of the town
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“Currently, the situation in Vuhledar is the most informative and hot area in terms of assessment, analysis and attempts to forecast. According to the latest information, the enemy has entered the western and eastern parts of Vuhledar, while the Ukrainian side is defending the central part. The enemy launched frontal and flank attacks that made it difficult for our contingent to hold the town,” explained Zgurets.
According to a military expert, Ukraine's 72nd Brigade successfully held Vuhledar, situated on a hill, for two years. This strategic position allowed them to anticipate the Russian army's movements and effectively target it with artillery and drones.
“Currently, the map shows that a pocket has been formed where the road from Vuhledar to Bohoyavlenka runs, along which our military should retreat. The area of this road is within one kilometer. Yesterday our military said that logistical support and withdrawal is extremely difficult due to the narrow corridor,” emphasized Zgurets.
The expert further noted that battles are currently underway to facilitate the planned withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the area. Ukrainian units are being compelled to relocate to the north and west, and a new line of defense will be established in the future.
