This is reported by Reuters.
"If there is a ceasefire, then of course the Western community, NATO partners, potentially the United Nations and the European Union will have to discuss how such a peace, such a ceasefire can be secured. And it is obvious that Germany as Europe's biggest economy would play a role there," Boris Pistorius said in a statement.
According to the Defense Minister, Germany is ready to consider the possible sending of peacekeepers. However, the corresponding mandate must be accepted by both Ukraine and Russia.
"From my response you can tell that there are far more questions than answers right now. And that's why I cannot give you a conclusive answer," he said.
- Politico, citing sources, reported that European leaders will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels on December 18 to discuss peace plans and the potential deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.
- French President Emmanuel Macron will raise the issue of deploying a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.
