80% of infrastructure in Ukraine's Pokrovsk damaged or destroyed by Russian shelling
In the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, 80% of the infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged by Russian shelling. Meanwhile, Russian troops are just 7 km from the city’s outskirts
The head of the city's military administration, Serhii Dobriak, shared this during the United News telethon on October 4.
He stated that about 13,000 civilians remain in Pokrovsk, including 94 children. Dobriak noted that a month and a half ago, the city had around 48,000 people and nearly 5,900 children.
“We can see the dynamics, evacuation efforts are still ongoing,” he added.
Dobriak emphasized that Russia is systematically destroying civilian infrastructure.
“Russian troops are less than 7 kilometers from the city. Just yesterday, there were two attacks with six guided aerial bombs. At 10:30, they targeted the city center, resulting in four injuries - two from the first attack. Later that night at 23:00, the Russian army fired three more guided bombs, resulting in more people being injured. Russia has been targeting civilian infrastructure, and nearly all critical facilities are now either damaged or destroyed - about 80% of them. The enemy is leaving us without electricity, water, and gas, 'preparing' us for winter,” said Dobriak.
- Ruslan Muzychuk, spokesman for the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU), noted that a significant number of artillery and air attacks are occurring in the Pokrovsk sector, as Russia attempts to use these strikes to create favorable conditions for advancing its infantry.
