Russia shells Donetsk region on December 31, damaging 19 houses in 11 settlements
On December 31, Russia attacked Ukraine's Donetsk region, launching 18 shellings against residential areas, critical infrastructure and homes
The National Police of Ukraine informed on the situation.
Over December 31, the Russian military shelled the Donetsk region with missiles, Grad MLRS, and artillery.
Eleven settlements came under Russian fire: Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Kurakhove, Mykolaivka, Toretsk, Velyka Novosilka, Oleksievo-Druzhkivka, Vesele, Markove, Predtechyne villages.
Russian troops shelled residential areas 18 times, 26 civilian objects were damaged. Among them: 19 residential buildings, a school, a factory, a power transformer and a granary.
Russian forces hit Mykolaivka twice with S-300 air defense systems, two high-rise buildings and an educational institution were destroyed.
"Another missile hit Oleksievo-Druzhkivka, where 5 private residences were damaged. The industrial zone of Kramatorsk was also damaged as a result of the missile attack," the press service added.
- On December 31, the Russian military attacked 8 regions of Ukraine. Ukrainian defenders shot down all 13 UAVs launched. Russian troops also launched 31 missile and 12 airstrikes.
- Throughout December 31, Russian forces laucnhed artillery and mortar shelling of cities and villages of the Kharkiv region; in Kupyansk they caused large-scale fires.
- On the night from December 31 to January 1, Russian troops struck the Kyiv region and Kyiv city. Ukrainian air defense eliminated 32 enemy objects.
- On December 31, Russian troops attacked the Mykolaiv region by launching 6 Iskander-type missiles. Later, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 7 UAVs over the region.
- On New Year's Eve, the Russian military shelled the Nikopol district twice, and a 48-year-old woman was injured in an attack on a residential building.
- Over December 31, Russian troops struck the Kherson region 40 times on New Year's Eve. Russia targeted the Kherson regional children's hospital, one person was killed and another was injured.
