Russia pushes false 'Russian Bucha' narrative in Kursk region
As ceasefire talks continue, Russia is spreading disinformation about alleged Ukrainian war crimes in the Kursk region, trying to create a 'Russian Bucha' narrative
The Center for Countering Disinformation reported the information.
“Despite the fact that this campaign has been ongoing for several weeks, no evidence has emerged to support russia’s accusations. The individuals featured in propaganda videos mostly repeat blatant rumors fueled by disinformation or retell secondhand stories from others,” the Center emphasized.
The Center noted that people in such recordings often do not know the details of the alleged “crimes” they describe.
“For example, an elderly resident of the town of Sudzha claimed she witnessed Ukrainian soldiers looting her house while watching from a neighbor’s window. She supposedly saw them carrying out appliances but could not specify what exactly was taken,” the report states.
The Center stressed that Russia is attempting to create the illusion of mass crimes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
- Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the night of March 19, following an order from Vladimir Putin, it allegedly shot down seven of its own UAVs that were heading toward Ukrainian energy facilities.
