Russia distracts Ukrainian army from Avdiivka, Melitopol directions with storms

He said this on Espreso TV. 

"After three days of relative calm, enemy attack aircraft became significantly more active. In particular, the invading Russian forces launched 21 airstrikes in the Tavria sector yesterday. In the Avdiivka sector, 36 combat engagements took place over the last day. The enemy is regrouping and preparing for further actions against Avdiivka," noted Colonel Stupun.

According to him, the Russian troops are trying to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in various parts of the Tavria sector.

"The enemy is diverting the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Avdiivka sector and the ongoing offensive in the Melitopol sector," emphasized Stupun.

• The Institute for War Studies believes that heavy losses of Russian equipment around Avdiivka are likely to undermine Russia's offensive potential in the long term.

• On October 27, President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, discussed the situation at the front with the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Rishi Sunak.

• Serhii Tsekhotskyi, an officer with the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk, highlighted the success of Ukrainian Defense Forces in repelling Russian attacks near Avdiivka.

• On October 28, the UK Ministry of Defense received information that Russian troops were unlikely to fulfill the Kremlin's expectations regarding the capture of Avdiivka.

• Military observer Denys Popovych said that the Russian army is trying to surround Avdiivka to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table.

• On October 29, in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian border guards destroyed a Russian warplane, presumably a Su-25, using a portable air defense system (MANPADS).
