Russia attempts advance on Bakhmut: situation is tough, but under control – Ukrainian military
Deputy commander of the 3rd detached assault brigade, Major Maksym Zhorin, discussed the Russian Federation's attacks toward Bakhmut
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"We expected this. We knew this process would start because we observed forces gathering in our direction, units being transferred here. Currently, the situation is tough and active but completely under control," explained Zhorin.
He stated that Russian troops aim to identify weaknesses in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense, attempting attacks along the entire line to the south and north of Bakhmut.
"While the enemy hasn't succeeded in these attacks, there's no cause for celebration. Occupiers persist in transferring forces and applying pressure. They plan to persist in finding weak points in our defense," said the commander of the 3rd assault brigade.
Zhorin discussed the tactics of the Russian army in the Bakhmut direction.
"The new enemy units, unfamiliar with this direction, initially attempt large-scale attacks with armored groups, but we know how to handle this well. They end up as scrap metal. Subsequently, they shift to tactics involving small groups and localized attacks, probing our defenses. Currently, paratroopers attempting to storm in this direction primarily advance without armored vehicles. They use them solely as a 'taxi' to specific lines and then attempt to move on our positions on foot," Zhorin added.
