NATO’s Stoltenberg stays

Stoltenberg will continue to lead NATO for another year.
This is a rather symbolic decision - the repeated extension of his tenure as Secretary General. It explains a lot.
“NATO is still afraid of change even within the Alliance itself, stuck in the old Bucharest of 2008 or even earlier. It is therefore not surprising that the Alliance is reacting so poorly to external challenges. And that's why it is running away from the issue of Ukraine's accession.”
For many decades, the major NATO countries, as well as Russia, have traditionally puffed up their cheeks, hoping in their hearts that there would never be a direct confrontation with the enemy. And even when Russia repeatedly tested the Alliance's nerves, the latter preferred to remain silent. Like, if you pretend that nothing happened, then nothing will happen. Because neither the aged and calm Europe nor the self-centered United States needs World War III.
“One gets the impression that if Ukraine fell in February 2022, even then NATO would not start digging defense lines in Poland. They would be looking for platforms for negotiations with Moscow.”
Ukraine surprised the world by not giving up.

But it is strange that NATO still cannot understand that the line of defense of their countries does not run along the border of Ukraine and Poland. It is along the line of the current conflict, where there is still a lack of the promised equipment. Not to mention the aircraft.
After the war is over, all major international organizations that have written off tons of paper with "concerns" for decades (yes, including the UN) will need to be radically reformed. Otherwise, they will simply become a thing of the past. As incapable and unprepared to face new challenges.
And yes, we must become a member of the Alliance now, because we have been de facto in it for a year and a half.
