Ukrainian Army repels 53 attacks in Pokrovsk direction - Ukraine's General Staff

Since the beginning of the day on August 1, 127 combat clashes have occurred on the frontline, with Russian troops launching the most attacks in the Pokrovsk direction

Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported the information as of 8:00 a.m.

Over the last day, 127 combat clashes were registered along the entire frontline. One third of them took place in the Pokrovsk direction.

On August 1, Russian troops launched a total of five missile attacks (with six missiles), conducted 63 air strikes (including 61 by combat aircraft), and carried out 1,187 kamikaze drone strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements. Additionally, they fired 4,873 rounds at Ukrainian troops and settlements, with 112 of these coming from multiple rocket launchers.

Russian airstrikes targeted 1 settlement in the Sumy region, 8 settlements in the Kharkiv region; 15 settlements in the Donetsk region, 3 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, 2 settlements in the Kherson region.

Frontline update

The Russian troops continued active operations in the Kharkiv direction, with a total of five combat clashes taking place. The fighting took place near Vovchansk and Tykhe.

In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian forces attacked Ukrainian troops' positions seven times, focusing their main efforts near Pishchane and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops fought off six Russian attacks near Makiivka and Torske.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces also rebuffed 11 attacks near Ivanodariivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Vyimka and Pereizne.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped six Russian troops' attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and towards Hryhorivka in Donetsk region.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops launched 24 attacks near Pivnichne, Zalizne, Toretsk and Niu York with the support of aviation.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders beat back 53 assault and offensive attacks. The Russian forces concentrated their efforts near Novooleksandrivka and Zhelanne. They conducted 8 and 18 attacks, accordingly. Moreover, Russian troops' attempts to advance were stopped near Panteleimonivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Svyrydonivka, Novoselivka Persha, Yasnobrodivka and Kalynivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back the Russian troops near Krasnohorivka, Paraskoviivka and Kostiantynivka. Russian forces tried to break through the Ukrainian troops' defenses seven times.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops launched two assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vodiane, Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, two Russian attacks took place in the direction of Mala Tokmachka.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped the Russian attempt to advance on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

On the Belarus border, the operational situation has not changed significantly. No signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups have been detected. 

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian forces maintain a military presence, shelling settlements from Russian territory, and conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities. 

  • Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, gave an update about the frontline situation in eastern Ukraine.
